The urban space of Dubrovnik in narrative sources

Vedran Stojanović, Dubrovački diptih. Domaći i strani autori o prostoru pretpotresnoga grada. Zagreb-Dubrovnik: Zavod za povijesne znanosti HAZU u Dubrovniku, 2024: pp. 280. (Ragusan diptych. Local and foreign authors on the urban space before the earthquake.)

At the end of last year, project member Vedran Stojanović’s new book came out. The book tackles the image of the urban space of Dubrovnik in narrative sources and methods of its creation. Data on the real and fictional urban space of late medieval and early modern Dubrovnik are diverse and scattered in various sources. By selecting narrative works, Vedran Stojanović seeks to offer an answer to the question of how the image of Dubrovnik’s urban space was constructed from the middle of the fifteenth century until the earthquake in 1667.
